Sr Manager of Risk Control

BASIC PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that the company’s trading operations function within agreed upon rules/policy/guidelines on a daily basis.   

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Calculate and validate company-wide Risk measurement, Value at Risk, on a daily basis.
  • Interact with each trading personnel to ensure that they are taking appropriate risks, based on agreed upon exposure/Value at Risk limits.
  • Review to approve/disapprove reasonable valuation curves to be used to report mark-to-market.
  • Review to approve/disapprove appropriate instruments/methodologies to mitigate market risk.
  • Review and validate valuation models, when necessary.
  • Understand new trading strategies and their impact on the risk policy, work with the risk committee to amend the risk policy when appropriate.
  • Monitor adherence to the company’s risk policy.
  • Monitor adherence to laws and rules governing commodities trading.
  • Maintain relationships with our futures clearing merchant to ensure good data exchange and accuracy in our respective systems.
  • Onboard new trading strategies, making sure the risks are known and quantified.
  • Respond to inquiries, investigations and subpoenas related to trading activity.
  • Oversee the contract confirms process.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
    • HS Diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business
  • Experience: Trading, Mid Office or any financial related experience required

 

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Skills:
    • Hard Skills: Proficent knowledge of Microsoft Office, model building, and trading applications
    • Soft Skills: Work with other employees, team player, detail and deadline oriented, multitasking, organizational skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and keen attention to detail
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
