Settlement Accountant

BASIC PURPOSE: Manages the processes that ensure the accuracy of Musket settlements.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Validate and settle pipeline settlements, tariffs, terminal fees and bulk commodity settlements in SolArc RightAngle.
  • Communicate with external vendors and customers, as well as interface with other internal teams on settlement issues.
  • Participate in the daily cash forecast process by scheduling and confirming payments.
  • Prepare account reconciliations for the balance sheet accounts impacted by settlements activities in the Houston office.
  • Monitor and research accrual and aging items for assigned customers and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
      • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Experience:
      • 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance.
      • Experience with SolArc RightAngle is a plus, but not required.

 
SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel
    • Ability to learn new software applications and computer programs.
    • Excellent teamwork, time management, verbal and written communication skills.
    • Detail oriented.
    • Ability to deal with a great diversity of people.
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Office setting during company office hours (8:00am to 5:00pm) with frequent interruptions and continuous stream of work.
    • Occasional evening and/or weekend work.
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
    • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
