BASIC PURPOSE: Manage the analysis and reporting used to identify, assess, and quantify risk across Musket and Trillium’s portfolios of trading exposure.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review, analyze, and report trading portfolio exposures; lead and manage issue resolution on behalf of the risk team
- Lead the review and publishing of daily corporate profit-and-loss (PnL) reports, ensuring that published figures are reconciled against Musket’s system of record
- Construct, maintain, and publish trading performance metric reports
- Analyze and report daily Value at Risk (VaR)
- Provide advanced ongoing and ad-hoc risk reporting, including but not limited to: PnL, VaR, trader performance, stress testing, scenario testing, and market analysis
- Maintain, review, and upload basis price curves daily
- Maintain market and forward price curves as directed; review exposures for incorrectly configured curves and assist with resolution
- Manage process improvement initiatives; lead risk-related project work
- Manage and lead the risk team; mentor and train junior teammates
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree required, preferably in a technical or quantitative discipline
- Coursework in statistics, mathematics, engineering, and/or finance as part of an academically rigorous undergraduate or graduate degree program preferred
- Experience:
- 5-7 years’ relevant experience in a risk management or trading role
- Leadership/management experience in a risk management function preferred
- Experience with oil, refined products, NGL, and/or biofuel markets
- Experience in energy/commodity trading, financial services, or consulting
SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Skills:
- Proven understanding of commodities/energy markets
- Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills, proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills
- Proven organizational and time-management/prioritization skills
- Attention to detail
- Meaningful experience with RightAngle or other ETRM system preferred
- ERP, FRM, CFA, or other relevant professional designation preferred
- Typical Physical Demands:
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
- Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
