BASIC PURPOSE: To create marketing opportunities for Musket by developing relationships with customers for spot rack sales, negotiating long term supply deals, provide derivative/ fixed forward pricing options to customers, and distribute renewable fuels in the marketplace.



  • Interact with customers on a daily basis to develop working relationships with them by means of setting up credit, setting up lifting numbers at racks, wholesaling fuel over the various racks we supply, creating new opportunities via railcars into their markets. Also look to blend renewable fuels into hydrocarbons when economics prevail.
  • Travel to customer sites to understand their underlying business. Attend tradeshow events to represent Musket and network with other markets to develop new marketing opportunities in various markets.
  • Bid annual contracts for railroads, trucking companies, commercial customers, etc, by researching viable opportunities and bid contracts to maximize return for Musket.
  • Conduct market research in new areas to find opportunities that may exist for Musket.
  • Work with the Product Traders to enhance physical possession of product within markets. Being able to liquidate positions by getting customers to lift at the rack in short order or lift other suppliers product when there is a need to reserve inventories.
  • Develop relationships with other suppliers in the market to cover needed barrels when we are unable to supply those barrels ourselves or have a supply disruption.  Also facilitate these relationships to offer back to back supply opportunities.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint expertise. DTN and DTN Exchange, Solarc understanding, Sales Force.
  • Understanding of financial markets including but not limited to oil and gas trading markets. Reading and understanding of Platt’s’, OPIS, and Argus Media reports.
  • Understanding of refining processes, pipeline operations, terminal operations, retail fueling operations.
  • Understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables Departments. Handling billing issues and fuel tax rates. Also need to be aware of Credit Department requirements for getting customers cleared for credit.
  • Marketing of Musket services including trans-loaders, ethanol and biodiesel terminal throughput agreements
  • Other duties assigned as needed.



  • Education:
    • High school Diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience:
  • 5 year petroleum, refining, wholesale, trading background - Preferred



  • Skills:
    • Hard Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office, working knowledge of SolArc Right
    • Soft Skills: Good written and oral communication skills, team player, problem solver/critical thinker, keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, good time management skills, and prioritization skills.
  • Typical Physical Demands:
      • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
      • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
      • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
      • Requires normal range of hearing and vision
      • Travel requirements
      • Available 24/7 365 days a year
