Manager of European Strategic Initiatives (Geneva, Switzerland)

BASIC PURPOSE: Musket Europe SARL, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, specializes in commodity supply, trading and logistics and provides expertise on both a marketing and operational level. The Head of Musket Europe will be responsible for managing the Supply and Trading and Commercial Operations for Musket Europe, Musket Europe SARL, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to simultaneously coordinate a host of complex tasks and communicate with senior management and lead team members across multiple departments. This person must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have strong analytical skills, show attention to detail, and possess excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.           

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Streamline strategic communications and operational updates with Senior Management.
  • Lead Office operations, supervise team development with strong finance professional experiences across multiple commodities.
  • Partnering closely with Musket US and other Love’s business units.
  • Excellent knowledge of Musket/Love’s family of businesses and relationships required.
  • Implement cross-functional special projects.
  • Resolve structural, strategic, or reporting issues across the company as needed.
  • Add intellectual rigor or to new techniques/potential investments to frame up long-range opportunities.
  • Develop critical industry relationships: vendors, customers, regulators, and associations.
  • Guide regulatory strategy and determine lobbying efforts necessary to support business.
  • Routinely communicate and present investment decisions, development updates and group performance to various customers including upper management.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business required.
  • MBA, Finance, Mathematics, or Economics background required.

Experience:

  • 10+ years industry experience
  • Experience importing greater than 500kt/m refined products into the UK.
  • Deep knowledge of UK tricking and retail margins.
  • Experience with UK bio-blending.
  • Background in business development and sales preferred.
  • Familiar with contracting, price negotiation, PNL, and income statements.
  • Able to manage multiple vendor, customer, and internal relationships.
  • Deep knowledge of the US, European, and Asia refined and renewable product markets.
  • Understanding of rack market dynamics including technology, supply & demand, and customer base.
  • High level of price risk management expertise.
  • Deep knowledge of US retail fuel dynamics, including trucking and retail storage
  • Intricate understanding of retail convenience operations and pricing
  • Retail fuel location layout expertise
  • 5 – 10 years of convenience store operations experience
  • Experience trading and managing a principal commodities-options book
  • Understanding of physical international fuel supply chain.
  • 5+ years’ experience in retail fuel optimization, including technology platforms and services.
  • Understanding of dispatch and trucking for delivery to end-users
