Jr Trading Data Analyst

BASIC PURPOSE:  Support Musket Trading and Business Development by analyzing complex data sets and creating robust data analytics. This role is designed to create and enhance tools intended to help make smart trading decisions and structure deals across different business lines including commodity trading, biofuel supply, marketing, asset operations and engineering services.  



  • Develop market trend analysis to help identify investment and trading opportunities by performing market research and statistical analysis of data.
  • Utilize data mining tools to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns. 
  • Supports data projects by organizing and transforming information into comprehensible structures.
  • Quantitative Analysis: support data optimization and process automation projects to streamline the decision-making for Musket's trading and investment portfolios.
  • Risk Mitigation: manage inherent risks associated with Musket's financial exposure related to supply and demand positions.
  • Able to communicate with stakeholders to present data content and business requirements.
  • Able to demonstrate collaboration and teamwork skills to collectively undertake data projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Data Analyst.



  •       Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Finance, or related technical fields
  •       Experience:
    • Experience in a trading organization preferred



  •         Skills:
    • Write complex algorithms in programming languages, such as C++, Python, Java, SQL or VBA, to optimize the supply and demand positions of a business portfolio.
    • Visualization and interpretation of data analytics using Tableau & Python Pandas or similar tools.
    • Proficiency in database management system such as MS SQL server, Oracle and Snowflake, etc.
    • Demonstrate basic understanding of crude, refined products and renewable fuels markets to help formulate strategies to maximize PnL.
    • Ability to become proficient with customer relationship management (CRM) software; Sales Force experience preferred
    • Results driven focus with the goal and ability to harnesses others’ energy to drive toward goal alignment which meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    •        Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
    •       Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
    •       Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
    •       Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
