Director of Musket Accounting

BASIC PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership to multiple functions in Musket and Trillium accounting and finance operations, including coordination of shared services.   



  • Oversee the Middle Office, including daily P&L by book, for Musket, Trillium, and sub-entities of both companies.
  • Oversee the Accounting and wholesale billing processes. Ensure invoices are generated timely while minimizing errors for wholesale customers.
  • Oversee the rail, vessel, and pipeline accounting process for multiple products. Ensure the inventory balancing is accurate and timely.
  • Interact with senior management to provide strategic analysis and feedback on variety of significant functions, projects, and decisions.
  • Monitor intercompany pricing, sharing agreements, and balancing relevant to Musket and Trillium entities.
  • Ensure adequate control structures are in place around daily accounting transactions, champion efforts to increase internal controls and efficiencies across all accounting processes.
  • Monitor Solarc Right Angle from an accounting and daily P&L perspective to ensure it is interfacing appropriately with other accounting systems on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and ensure operational issues are resolved timely.
  • Provide vision and support for related I.T. initiatives and prioritization of projects. Ensure appropriate representation and participation on significant projects impacting accounting areas. Work closely with IT to design and implement relevant accounting projects as well.
  • Direct the monthly financial closing process, ensuring all balances appropriately roll into realized and forward classifications and books. Provide reconciliation to balance the daily P&L to the month end P&L. Ensure the appropriate financial statements are prepared and distributed timely. Participate in the annual external audit process to ensure its success.
  • Oversee overall flow of information / deal processing through SRA.  Work with and monitor shared services teams to ensure that processes are flowing smoothly and accurately from the front office to the back office.
  • As a leading member of the Risk Committee, supervise the VAR calculations and ensure adherence to the Risk Policy, including VAR limits, training requirements, and responses to oversight agencies.
  • Coordinate with Commercial, Legal, and Fuel Programs Compliance teams to ensure SRA tracking allows for full compliance with various state and federal filing and reporting requirements
  • Manage the budgeting and G&A allocation process for Musket, Trillium, and sub-entities of both companies.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.



  • Education:
    • Accounting or Business Degree required
    • CPA and MBA preferred
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of increasing responsibility in accounting positions
    • Derivatives accounting experience preferred



  • Skills:
    • Hard Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office and general computer skills.   SRA and SAP experience preferred.
    • Soft Skills: Excellent oral and verbal communication skills and organizational skills
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
