Contract Settlement Analyst

BASIC PURPOSE: Manages the processes that ensure the accuracy of Musket settlements. This position can be based out of Houston, TX or out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contract Confirms:

  • Cross check deal details between broker confirm and 3rd party confirms, and internal deal sheet and SRA details.
  • Send out Musket contract with appropriate details when trades are done on our paper.
  • Ensure accuracy and validate deal details when trades done on 3rd party paper.
  • Filing and archiving ingoing and outgoing confirms consistent with existing Musket processes.
  • Manage, track, and rectify discrepancies.

Pricing Confirms:

  • Compile appropriate pricing components of a trade once prices have settled.
  • Confirm prices with 3rd parties ahead of Invoicing.
  • Communicate internally and externally any discrepancies and work them to resolution.

Invoicing/Settlement:

  • Generate, validate, and settle AR & AP invoices for various Crude, NGL & Refined products once trade details and pricing agreed.
  • Manage communication flow internally and externally for payables and receivables through settlement.
  • Ensure timely payment to/from counterparties.
  • Manage any settlement issues that arise internally and externally.

General Accounting:

  • Process intercompany invoices for multiple legal entities.
  • Research unmatched transactions and direct transactions as needed to mid-office to amend.
  • Reconcile and clear cash, vendor, and customer accounts in SAP.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet workpapers related to the areas supervised.
  • Interact with external auditors to assist with completing the year-end audit.

General Office Admin Tasks (Calgary Only)

  • Help with new office set up
  • Office supplies & procurement
  • Internal Musket point person for other administrative duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

Experience:

  • 4-5 years’ experience in accounting or finance
  • Required: Experience with Canadian Crude pricing/WADF/EQ, logistics, commercial terms, confirms, contracts, and invoicing
  • Preferred: Experience with scheduling, operations, system/process change management

 

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and ability to learn new software
  • Experience with SAP and RightAngle (or appropriate ETRM System)
  • Experience with GST, VAT, foreign currencies, and international invoicing requirements is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork, time management skills, and strong attention to detail
  • Willingness to work with a variety of business groups with possibility of occasional evening and/or weekend work.

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Regular travel between Houston and Calgary.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
