Supervisor of Security Operations

BASIC PURPOSE: Provides security operations leadership in support of the Information Security department. Coordinates with individual teams or Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with responsibilities including, but not limited to execution of cybersecurity operations strategies, security tool health assessment and maintenance, cybersecurity controls testing, incident response and eDiscovery. 

 

Identifies and communicates security threats, vulnerabilities, risks, emerging trends, and mitigation strategies in alignment with the organization's risk appetite. Reports on Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for areas of responsibility and identifies appropriate remediation efforts when required, supervises the daily security operations departmental workflow.  

 

The Supervisor of Security Operations will work with Love’s management and staff to provide leadership and focus for the security related architecture and standards, as well as provide role-engineering assistance for new or modified applications and/or when business functions move from one department to another. 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the necessary resources, including key security operations personnel, to support cybersecurity and information security goals and objectives and reduce overall organizational risk.
  • Supervises and coordinates daily security operations workflow to meet departmental objectives.
  • Responsible for maintaining Love’s Computer Security Incident Response Plan.
  • Coordinates security department incident response efforts and acts as point of contact during response and remediation efforts.
  • Lead initiatives with stakeholders to establish the enterprise continuity of operations program, strategy, and mission assurance.
  • Coordinate and lead security improvement actions to evaluate, validate, and implement solutions as required.
  • Lead and align cybersecurity priorities within the Department's overall security strategy.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the enterprise's cybersecurity safeguards to ensure they provide the intended level of protection.
  • Participate in cybersecurity risk assessments and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute towards the preparation, creation, distribution, and maintenance of plans, instructions, guidance, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) concerning the security of Love’s assets.
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend protective or corrective measures when a cybersecurity incident or vulnerability is discovered.
  • Exercise usual authority by providing recommendations concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
  • Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. 
  • Identify security and risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to security team staff in order to insure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.
  • Assist in defining the architecture of security programs and projects using a technical information security background.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Business required
  • Minimum five years of experience in information security required
  • Minimum of five years of leadership experience in technology required
  • Experience in formulating strategies, alternatives and recommendations in information security management required
  • Experience evaluating risk and communicating it in a fact-based manner
  • CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or other technical security certification desired

 

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Skills: 
    • Demonstrated understanding of modern Identity & Access Management and cloud platform best practices
    • Excellent conceptual, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills required
    • High level of attention to detail and accuracy required
    • Proficient knowledge of IT project management, related software and IT Security
    • Basic knowledge of databases, systems integration, database design, SQL, and data reporting structures
    • Ability to report to and work with all layers of the business
    • Ability to manage numerous competing demands in an extremely high stress environment
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Typical Physical Demands: 
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision
