Sr. Indirect Tax Technology Analyst

BASIC PURPOSE: The primary purpose of the Sr. Tax Technologist is managing technology projects and optimizing technology utilization within the Indirect Tax department to ensure effective tax compliance and efficient use of resources.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define requirements needed for developing and implementing enhancement and production support fixes
- Liaison between business units, technology teams, support teams and Indirect Tax. Ability to build effective working relationships
- Strong information seeking skills
- Support project prioritization discussions, timelines, trade-offs and submit ROIs for new projects
- Perform functional and performance tests on the system to verify implemented changes
- Oversee complex large, tax projects as well as smaller enhancements
- Develop innovative solutions to improve access and quality of data for Indirect Tax users
- Support automation of Indirect Tax processes
- Design innovative technical solutions to process challenges
- Lead project team meetings
- Assist and Train Tax Technology Analysts
- Assists Tax Technology Supervisor with special projects.
- Ability to teach counterparties how to utilize the functionality of new or enhanced software
- Other duties assigned as needed
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- HS Degree or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/MIS or equivalent training/experience strongly preferred
- 1-2 years previous experience in a tax technology role preferred
- Working knowledge of Indirect Tax accounting practices preferred
- Understand end to end company retail sales, purchases, and fuel business models preferred
- Familiarity with large data sets and data investigation preferred
- Experience in working on software projects or implementations
SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Strong Excel Skills and familiarity with SQL and databases
- Ability to learn new software applications quickly; technical minded
- Ability to think critically; detail-oriented; organizational skills with ability to multi-task; innovative and self-motivated
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with management, technical peers, and business stakeholders
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
- Occasional lifting to 25 pounds
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
- Requires normal range of hearing and vision
