Sr Business Systems Analyst - Merchandise Technology

BASIC PURPOSE: The Scrum Master/Sr. Business Systems Analyst role is to actively facilitate and contribute to the overall success of the Vendor Link (Supplier Portal) platform.  This position fills a Scrum Master role for the product team and includes business analyst responsibilities within the scrum team.  This involves interacting with business unit stakeholders, product owners, developers (including third party offshore resources), administrators and vendors to ensure core goals and objectives are being met.  

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a Scrum Master, lead one to two product development teams for a 3rd Party Supplier Portal platform as a mentor, coach, teacher and facilitator to develop self-organizing, high performing teams.  Work to remove impediments and keep the team moving forward without interruption or distraction.  
  • Facilitate scrum ceremonies – Sprint planning, grooming, daily stand-ups, sprint demo, retrospectives and feature planning.  Maintain burn-downs, key metrics and dashboard reporting.
  • Gather and understand business requirements from business/product owners & SME’s.  With Scrum Team, translate business goals and requirements to epics, features and user stories.  Author additional requirements, artifacts and project documentation as needed.
  • Work with the Product Owner(s) where necessary to help organize product backlogs, clarify User Stories and Acceptance Criteria, and understand technical implications and dependencies. 
  • Provide internal and external user product support, escalating issues and defects through scrum team product backlogs where indicated. Meets SLA’s for response time
  • Analyze and document as-is and future state process and system interfaces.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new feature functional designs, functional requirements, limitations, and implementations of new initiatives.
  • Some project management/project coordination across product development teams and other integrated project initiatives
  • Provide consistent status and reporting on project progress to stakeholders, leaders and team members.
  • As needed, perform quality assurance activities including test planning, test scripts, test execution, and defect management.
  • Assist in release planning and deployment activities including production smoke testing, training documentation, change management and post-deployment support. 
  • Anticipates potential problems and develops solutions needed to resolve them. 
  • Identify potential areas of conflicting priorities and help facilitate conversations and understanding around those
  • Debates opinions, tests understanding, and clarifies judgments with the utmost professionalism and tact
  • Effectively conduct meetings spanning multiple teams on complex matters.
  • Interface with key stakeholders and business leaders to provide timely updates with regards to progress.
  • Proven track record of building strong relationships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to earn their trust, confidence and respect.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Education: 
    • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in MIS, Business, Technology or related field. 
    • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certifications are a plus but not required.
  • Experience: 
    • 2 – 5 years’ experience as Scrum Master on established Agile Scrum Teams.
    • 5-7 years’ experience in business analysis and/or Project Management.
    • Familiarity with software development and project management tools (Azure DevOps, MS Project, etc.) 
    • Knowledge of BABOK and SDLC methodologies.
    • Understanding of supply chain and retail merchandising business processes.
    • Familiarity with Tableau reporting.

  • Typical Physical Demands: 
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
