Safety Specialist - Truck Care

<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">BASIC PURPOSE:<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"> It is the mission of the safety department to empower great managers who care with the resources and education needed to eliminate or mitigate workplace hazards while providing safe locations and experiences for our customers.

<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"> 

<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">• Provide hands on training to assure the highest possible degree of safety for all Love’s employees.

<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">• Identify, evaluate and correct hazardous conditions and behaviors in the workplace.

<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">• Coordinate with management to identify, analyze and lead efforts to solve problems in the assigned area.

<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">• Conduct on-site inspections with upper management to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.

<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">• Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of policies and procedures and assist in implementing changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate work-place accidents and injuries.

<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">• Lead safety meetings and safety training

<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">• Help to identify gaps in learning and assist in developing learning programs.

<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">• Analyze data; prepare actionable recommendations.

<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">• Other duties assigned as needed.

<span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">Education:
    • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">High school Diploma or equivalent required
    • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">Technical training in truck service preferred
      <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"> 
      <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">• Experience:
    • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">Management experience in the commercial truck service industry preferred
    • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">Clean and consistent record of safety
      <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"> 
      <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
      <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">• Skills:
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">Hard Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office, training or knowledge of occupational health and safety compliance with applicable federal and state regulations/standards, ability to hands on train on health and safety, requires experience in implementation of OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.177, policies, procedures and processes as well as working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, RMA, and TIA), and the ability to use the Internet.
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">Soft Skills: Excellent oral and verbal communication skills and organizational skills; the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, government regulations, professional journals; the ability to write technical reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exists; ability to work independently and to meet deadlines; and keen attention to detail.
    <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">• Typical Physical Demands:
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">Requires prolonged sitting, standing and walking, with some bending, crouching, crawling and climbing
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">Ability to work in an outdoor environment with varying climates
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">Requires normal range of hearing and vision
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Tahoma",sans-serif">Travel is required
