Retail Specialist

BASIC PURPOSE: The primary purpose of the Retail Specialist position is to be fully responsible for item integrity.  They will bridge the gap between supplier, Category Management team and store operations.  They will manage the data flow and maintenance of all product information via hosted centralized Merchandise Management system to support all store level Point of Sale systems. Maintain data flow to support automated replenishment systems, centralized Loyalty promotional platform and other supporting merchandising systems and accounting systems.  Align with Category Management team on category procedure and understand pricing concepts/product life cycle.  Manage daily responsibilities around vendor relationships, item integrity, merchandising initiatives, and store operations assistance. This position will be proficient in all merchandising software for item setup and vendor management.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Vendor Collaboration

  • Align with Category Management team on vendor relationships, initiatives, and program rollouts
  • Become subject matter expert in corresponding categories and vendors assigned
  • Create and maintain vendor and store system relationship to ensure accurate information across all areas of operations and accounting
    Item Maintenance
  • Lead initiative of ongoing item integrity, data cleansing, and vendor variety accuracy
  • Knowledgeable of accounting functionalities, processes, and procedures from store level to corporate
  • Collaborate with Category Management team on product setup/maintenance through Vendor Link approvals
  • Ensure accuracy of pricing, costs, and item information setup related to replenishment and planogram software
  • Manage monthly promotions across all stages of planning, setup, implementation, and troubleshooting with guidance from Category Management team
    Troubleshooting
  • Utilize analytics and applications related to sales/replenishment to troubleshoot receiving and pricing issues
  • Troubleshoot store level issues involving item integrity and Vendor issues
  • Review and resolve daily reporting discrepancies related to item setup
  • Assist with data integrity issues involving accounting procedures by working with Love’s accounting team
  • Offer solutions based on current issues and needs within store operations
    Support Operations
  • Assist in testing and implementing new procedures or software upgrades
  • Support Love’s Vendor Link supplier portal, Pricebook SAP application, Salesforce work order tracking application, and future programs as needed
  • Alignment with ongoing operations initiatives
  • Collaborate with multiple departments ranging from but not exclusive to: IT, Accounting, Supply Chain, Merchandising, and Store Operations
  • Other duties assigned as needed

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
    • HS Diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience:
    • Experience in Retail or Accounting preferred
    • Experience analyzing data using excel and various report formats preferred
    • Experience with technical developments or implementation a plus
    • Experience managing vendor relations a plus
    • Experience researching inventory a plus
    • Experience with SAP a plus

    • Soft Skills: Stable work history, good oral and written communications skills, team player, keen attention to detail, self-motivated, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and strong analytical skills

  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Scheduling flexibility
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision
