Production Operator - Flatbed Printing

      BASIC PURPOSE:  We are seeking a qualified individual to help our growing and fast paced In-house Print Shop. Digital printing experience is a must; experience operating large format flatbed printers is required. Applicant will be responsible for the operation of an Acuity 8’x10’ flatbed. This position will be involved in all phases of large format production, including prep, RIP setup, finishing, trimming, mounting and packaging. The appropriate candidate should excel at working hard, completing jobs on schedule never letting quality suffer. An eye for color and quality control is a must. Applicant must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet business demands and overtime when necessary.



  • Operate Acuity XS and/or Acuity F Flatbed and other miscellaneous finishing equipment.
  • Carries out fabrication, assembly of signage, packaging, and shipping of new & completed print jobs.
  • Performs regular maintenance on equipment and troubleshoots/fix equipment when necessary.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, and organized condition.
  • Examines job order to determine quantity to be printed, stock specifications, colors and special printing/shipping instructions.
  • Measures material thickness and adjusts space setup between print heads/carriage according to thickness of material stock.
  • Starts press, examines nozzle checks, position on material and registration and makes adjustments to press throughout production run to maintain specific registration and color density.
  • Performs material handling and inventory management as directed by supervisor.
  • Performs material and consumable ordering from vendors
  • Communicates with supervisors, press crew, and Marketing team to verify production schedules and instructions. Checks job set-up parameters with the job ticket specifications to ensure accurate setup.
  • Monitors all printing and press related processes and makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Follows all company and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations and encourages safe work habits from other crewmembers.



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of two years Digital/Large Format printing experience



  • A working knowledge of digital printing, large format flatbed printers, and finishing equipment.
  • Knowledge of Adobe CS Suite, Microsoft Office, PDF Workflow, PostScript-RIP and Color Management.
  • Strong verbal and oral communication skills, keen attention to detail, ability to multi-task, strong organization skills, flexible and self-motivated to take on additional tasks.
  • Must be a team player that is detail-orientated and thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Requires prolonged standing, bending and stooping.
  • Lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
  • Shift work is common, as is overtime in order to meet deadlines.
