Print Production Supervisor

BASIC PURPOSE: The primary responsibility of the Print Production Supervisor is to maintain an in-depth knowledge of all active projects in the shop, manage print shop personnel/machine operators, and through an organizational approach, facilitate production schedules and the QA/QC process in order to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency. Effective communications skills are required to manage production schedules and the logistics that follow, troubleshooting prepress and equipment issues, as well as working closely with personnel to keep production moving in a timely fashion with the highest quality possible. The Supervisor should be a resource for operators in terms of machine maintenance, color management and processes/standards as well as possess the ability to think outside the box to solve problems; all while keeping production on track to meet company objectives. 

                                                                                                                   

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicates job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Management of print shop personnel through coaching, initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling/assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Manage schedules and deadlines for 50 – 200 projects at a time both in-house and with outside vendors.
  • Executes department billing and invoicing; Enters vendor invoices; Maintains outside vendor ordering.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organizational standards.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all equipment and resources as well as maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Creatively solve problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Follows all company and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations and encourages safe work habits from other crewmembers.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • A minimum of three years in a Lead production environment and/or management experience.
    • Experience in all areas of digital print production, finishing and shipping.
    • Familiarity with Salesforce-based project management and job ticket systems is a plus.

 

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Skills:
    • A working knowledge of Wide/Large/Grand Format Printers, Flat Bed Printers, CNC Router, Xerox, Vinyl Welders, and accompanied finishing equipment.
    • Knowledge of Adobe CS Suite, Salesforce/job ticket systems, Microsoft Office, PDF Workflow, PostScript-RIP and Color Management.
    • Strong verbal and oral communication skills, keen attention to detail, ability to multi-task, strong organization skills, flexible and self-motivated to take on additional tasks.
    • Must be a team player that is detail-orientated and thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Physical Demands:
  • Requires prolonged standing, bending and stooping.
  • Lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
  • Shift work is common, as is overtime in order to meet deadlines.
