Marketing Cloud Developer I

BASIC PURPOSE: A Marketing Cloud Developer I will support the business in building out automated marketing solutions within the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform. The ideal candidate will have experience in HTML (specifically responsive HTML email development), CSS, SQL, and JavaScript or AMPscript. Additionally, the candidate should have the ability to identify dependencies up front, accurately scope projects, and meet deadlines. Some platform administrative tasks will be required as well. This role will also support the business in testing campaign functionality and provide demos to stakeholders at the completion of projects to verify work meets the business criteria defined. Preference will be given to candidates with marketing automation experience or experience working within the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform, but Salesforce experience is not required.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Campaign asset development and testing (HTML emails, responsive landing pages, dynamic personalization, campaign scripting with SSJS and AMPscript, mobile app and SMS message configurations)
  • Assist in the design and development of Salesforce Marketing Cloud solutions
  • Manage internal requests and help troubleshoot errors within the Marketing Cloud platform
  • Manage support tickets with Salesforce
  • Support Salesforce and additional development teams with REST and SOAP APIs used to integrate with Marketing Cloud
  • Participate in campaign solution design sessions with the marketing automation team and help define requirements
  • Assist campaign admin team with cross-device and cross-client email rendering issues
  • QA testing for new project implementations with an emphasis on attention to detail
  • QA testing for mobile app messaging (including regression testing after SDK updates)
  • QA testing for complex campaign integrations
  • Assist with monthly campaign monitoring to verify functionality and error handling
  • Implement marketing automation solutions that meet business requirements
  • Monitor data integrity and security across platform and third-party vendors
  • Build segmentation lists for ad-hoc and recurring campaign sends using SQL
  • Automate workflows (query jobs, data extracts, reporting, campaign injections)
  • Survey Tool administration (survey configuration, push/pull data integration)

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree or 2 years equivalent experience
    • Technical Certifications or Salesforce Marketing Cloud certifications a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Experience working with Agile methodologies and processes
    • 1-3 years’ experience preferred with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or other email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Hubspot, etc.)
    • Experience with Sales/Service Cloud and Salesforce Connector a plus.
    • Omnichannel marketing experience (Email, SMS, Push, Web)
    • Understanding of data architecture best practices as it relates to marketing initiatives
    • Experience with sales pipeline campaigns (lead generation, engagement, conversion, and retention)

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • HTML/CSS (responsive email and web development preferred)
  • Understanding of HTML email rendering workarounds for different email clients
  • 1-2 years’ experience with JavaScript or AMPscript
  • Platform administration experience (web CMS, marketing automation, or Salesforce platform)
  • Some experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Superior problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team or independently with little supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping. 
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. 
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
