Human Resources Manager

BASIC PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this position is to lead the Employee Relations and Business Partner community for the family of companies, focusing on the corporate office and certain operating divisions.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the corporate employee relations team and HR business partners
  • Serves as an internal consultant to leadership on important HR matters
  • Advises management on organizational policy/development matters
  • Supports the company’s Inclusion and Diversity initiatives
  • Responsible for unemployment claims program
  • Ensures effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Delivers final responses to the EEOC and DOL and leads mediations
  • Ensures compliance with all existing federal and state employment laws and reporting requirements
  • Leads a variety of HR or HRIS projects
  • Supports organizational change management process
  • Manages progressive discipline/coaching software and templates
  • Collaborates with Learning & Development on all HR educational content
  • Analyzes exit interview and performance review data to inform future policy and L&D initiatives
  • Manages the process for employee performance evaluations and 360 evaluations
  • Monitors and evaluates headcount, turnover and other relevant HR metrics
  • Oversees updates and maintenance of the HR content on corporate intranet pages and other communication channels
  • Recommends changes and monitors compliance laws for related practices and employee handbooks
  • Other duties assigned as needed

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
      • HS Diploma or equivalent required
      • Bachelor’s Degree in HR or HR related field strongly preferred
  • Experience:
      • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
      • DOT compliance expertise preferred
      • Succession planning and executive coaching experience preferred

 

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Skills:
    • Hard Skills: knowledge of Microsoft Office, including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, HR specific software
  • Soft Skills: strong presentation skills, willingness and ability to learn from other departments, innovator, good verbal and written communication skills, strong time management skills, strong organization skills, can-do attitude, sense of urgency, ability to take constructive criticism and strong work ethic
  • Typical Physical Demands:
      • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
      • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
      • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
      • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
