Manager of Datacenter Services

BASIC PURPOSE: The Datacenter Services Manager manages the team responsible for implementing, maintaining, and/or coordinating infrastructure hardware and services, both on premise and through cloud service providers. The manager must have experience with general datacenter processes, metrics, and documentation. The manager will have a functional understanding of infrastructure hardware, operating systems, and virtualization is needed, and the ability to effectively communicate with business and non-technical individuals and groups. 



  • Maintain administrative staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal and career growth opportunities.
  • Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and providing constructive feedback to employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage internal infrastructure tasks and projects and assist as needed in business projects requiring new hardware or technology.
  • Achieve financial objectives by anticipating requirements; submitting information for budget preparation; scheduling expenditures; monitoring costs; analyzing variances.
  • Schedule regular vendor and/or third-party systems reviews and health checks to assist with maintaining uptime, performance, and security standards.
  • Manage vendor relations with existing and potential providers, seeking cost-savings and beneficial technological partnerships.
  • Maintain continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; benchmarking professional standards; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.



  • Education
    • College-level degree or certification required
  • Experience
    • 5-7+ years in IT administration and management required
    • 3+ years in IT Project Management preferred



  • Skills:
    • Tracking budget expenses, quality management, managing processes, organization, communication processes, coaching and providing feedback to employees, motivating others, promoting process improvement, reporting skills
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping. 
    • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. 
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator. 
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
