Welcome to Love's: Our Internal Audit department has an opening for an entry-level corporate internal auditor responsible for conducting risk assessments, testing transactions, performing data analysis, and evaluating internal controls and business processes. The Staff Auditor prepares audit workpapers and provides recommendations to strengthen internal controls and enhance operational efficiency. This role involves reviewing and evaluating detailed procedures and workflows, analyzing testing results, and investigating anomalies in collaboration with process owners and company personnel. The auditor is also responsible for identifying and documenting internal control deficiencies, audit findings, and areas of concern, as well as performing root cause analysis to support continuous improvement. 

Please note: The Staff Auditor position is in-office four days a week at our Oklahoma City headquarters.

 

Job Functions:

  • Assist in the execution of the annual internal audit plan and all phases of the audit process.
  • Interviews business process owners to document internal controls and processes.
  • Prepares risk assessments for each process and audit area.
  • Assists in determining records or activities to analyze, the extent of tests to apply, and the workpapers to prepare.
  • Obtains, analyzes, and evaluates audit evidence.
  • Ensures compliance with internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepares workpapers that record and summarize data on the assigned audit program.
  • Holds preliminary discussions of apparent audit exceptions with process owners to verify and to obtain explanations of and reasons for each apparent exception.
  • Identifies and recommends methods to remediate control deficiencies, opportunities for cost savings, and operational efficiencies.
  • Participates in special projects (business development analysis, special investigations, etc.).
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited University is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant and/or Certified Internal Auditor certification desired; however, if not certified then it is preferred the applicant is working toward obtaining professional certification with an active plan in place to meet the 150-hour educational requirement to sit for the CPA exam in the State of Oklahoma.
  • At least one year of accounting, internal audit, and/or public accounting experience is preferred. A recent college graduate with outstanding academic credentials and extracurricular/volunteer experience may be considered. Prior internship experience in a public or private corporation working in accounting or auditing is also a plus.

 

Skills and Physical Demands:

  • Ability to manage competing projects and tasks to completion in a fast-paced environment meeting established deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills, in particular the ability to tactfully communicate with all levels within the organization
  • Advanced computer and word processing skills in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze large data sets and to understand complex business processes.
  • Ability to research and to identify emerging business/industry risks, rules, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
  • Knowledge and/or understanding of the COSO Framework
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
