Love's College Intern Program

The Love’s college internship program is frequently referred to as the best in Oklahoma City. This rapidly growing program provides opportunities for students in multiple areas of the business to receive employee level experience, not just busy work. Over the course of the summer, Love’s interns also participate in the following activities:

  • Structured performance feedback
  • Formal presentation to Love’s leadership

 

Culture and I&D Internship

BASIC PURPOSE: With over 600 truck stops across the country plus a range of complementary businesses, Inclusion and Diversity (I&D) is the future of Love’s. The primary purpose of this position is to provide support for Love’s culture and engagement initiatives, including creating, implementing and championing I&D projects and efforts for the Love’s Family of Companies including Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores, Gemini Motor Transport, Musket, Speedco, and Trillium Energy. 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Liaise with the communications team on culture team communications 
  • Provide support managing awards and recognition programs
  • Visit various departments, divisions and meetings as assigned across the Love’s Family of Companies 
  • Assist in developing project schedules and timelines and ensuring key projects stay on track, including planning, timelines, stakeholder coordination, and implementation
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders, learning and development, and human resources to embed I&D goals in career development strategy and the talent lifecycle
  • Engage with ERGs internal groups, taskforces, and committees as well as external groups and organizations
  • Coordinate with communications for key I&D messaging
  • Support internal and external communications team, community relations team and events team as needed
  • Other duties assigned as needed
  • Occasional, light travel required

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Education: 
    • HS diploma or equivalent required.
    • Currently enrolled in four-year university program working toward a degree in business, communications/PR, or human resources preferred.
  • Experience: 
    • Proven involvement and experience with communications-related and I&D projects.
    • Experience in expanding I&D efforts.
    • Demonstrated track record relationship building skills and moving strategic projects or initiatives forward with successful completion.
    • Past internship or experience is a plus.

 

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Hard Skills: 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong time management and organization skills and ability to manage numerous competing demands in a high-stress and fast-paced environment
    • Experience in creating social media plans
    • Capacity to take ownership of a project from start to completion
  • Soft Skills:
    • Self-motivated, team player with keen attention to detail.
    • Ability to multitask with excellent time management skills.
    • Ability to change gears quickly and efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude and ability to work under general direction.
  • Typical Physical Demands: 
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping. 
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. 
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard. 
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
