Business Systems Manager- Houston, TX

BASIC PURPOSE: Management and delivery responsibility for the optimization associated systems and processes throughout their lifecycles from Analysis thru Design, Implementation, Execution and Innovation. 



  • Drive implementation and improvement projects of various scale for business areas supported
  • Lead development of team members and their career progression
  • Understand integration points between SAP modules maintained by the team and other integrated systems such as Salesforce, Telapoint and Peoplenet
  • Quickly understand business needs and translate that understanding into a form that leads to the creation and/or composition of better solutions
  • Work with cross-functional SAP teams to resolve potential configuration conflicts
  • Responsibility for the configuration and ownership of the Love’s implementation for their functional area
  • Elicit, communicate and manage internal and external customer requirements
  • Work with business leads to prioritize work list and assign to appropriate team members
  • Manage change request process for the work stream and approve requests for security, configuration and development changes
  • Clearly communicate project and break-fix status to business leads, manager, and executives on occasion
  • Analyze and document as-is process, gaps and system interfaces
  • Derive improvement potential for business areas supported
  • Provide input to establishing process performance measurement system to be able to constantly control and report end-to-end process performance
  • Contribute to and maintain best practice process management approach for Business and IT
  • Provide expertise in change management, process management and project management
  • Contribute to the development of process standards and evaluation of tools as needed
  • Perform feasibility studies/solution reviews
  • Understand and ensure that quality standards are met
  • Other duties assigned as needed



  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years directly related experience designing and implementing SAP MM, Inventory management, supply chain, transportation, terminal controls, commodities trading system.
    • Knowledge of truck transportation, fuel facilities, commodities trading activity a plus. 
    • Knowledge of logistics systems best practices a plus.
    • 5+ years managing people and projects
    • SAP IS-Oil experience required
    • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship



  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of SAP ECC 6.0, Business Intelligence, data warehousing, application and design integration, SOA, Microsoft.Net, ABAP, web services and workflow/process automation
    • Strong Problem assessment/analytical skills
    • Capable of thinking of the big picture, end-to-end, and sorting through an ambiguous environment
    • Demonstrated leadership capability
    • Ability to work within resource and time constraints
    • Ability to manage 200+ emails per day
    • Ability to manage numerous competing demands in an extremely high stress environment
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
