Business Systems Lead

BASIC PURPOSE: The IT Business Systems Lead is responsible for successfully leading the people, process and technology to deliver strategic initiatives spanning multiple merchandising systems including: Merchandise analytics, vendor management and space planning. 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead an internal team of Business Analysts, Quality Assurance and Project Management team members who drive implementation and improvement projects for Merchandise related process and solutions.
  • Collaborate with other team leads responsible for related function and technical areas (DBA’s, Inventory, Point of Sale, Customer Analytics & Reporting, etc.)
  • Serve as managing liaison between internal IT teams and 3rd party resources including offshore development and operational monitoring.
  • Oversee multiple agile scrum-teams – providing guidance and coaching to optimize team performance.  Fills in as scrum master when needed.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert of business acumen in the areas of merchandising analytics, KPI’s and dashboard reporting.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and provide recurring updates on project updates.
  • Work with the Product Owner(s) where necessary to help define, document and deliver required deliverables to support projects.  This may include assistance in organizing product backlog and understanding technology dependencies.
  • Provide input to establishing performance measurements to be able to control and report end-to-end process and system performance
  • Manage the internal Statement of Work process – business review, updates and approvals for new projects.
  • Oversee onboarding & offboarding of 3rd party contract resources both offshore & onshore.
  • Effectively conduct large meetings spanning multiple teams on complex matters.
  • Identify opportunities for application optimization, redesign, or enhancements to enable business units and grow customer base.
  • Assist in release planning and deployment activities.
  • Lead end-user support process and team members including monitoring and enforcement of SLA’s and key metrics.
  • Contribute to the development of process standards and evaluation of tools as needed.
  • Perform feasibility studies, solution reviews and/or proof-of-concepts as part of project evaluation.
  • Engage in building strong relationships with key stakeholders, subject matter experts and team members to earn their trust, confidence and respect.
  • Lead development of team members and their career progressions.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
      • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in MIS, Business, Technology or related field
      • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) Certifications are a plus but not required
  • Experience:
      • Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in business systems analysis and/or project management.
      • Strong knowledge of retail merchandising and supply-chain business processes.
      • Experience and familiarity with best practices on internal reporting, KPI’s/dashboards and Tableau reporting.
      • Proven understanding of databases, systems integration, application development and reporting.
      • Agile methodology experience including Scrum.
      • Familiarity with software development, team communication & ticketing tools (Azure DevOps, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce Service Cloud, etc.)
      • Experience creating detailed documentation and giving presentations.

  • Skills:
    • Quick learner with an ability to ramp up in technologies and modules to meet business needs.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage numerous competing demands in a high stress environment.
    • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and SharePoint.
    • Work independently and make decisions quickly when necessary.
    • Basic knowledge of databases, systems integration, application development and reporting.
    • Ability to facilitate and lead very complex discussions in a mixed technical and business team environment.
    • Capable of thinking of the big picture and sorting through an ambiguous environment.
    • Ability to manage 100+ emails per day.
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
