BASIC PURPOSE: The Business Systems Analyst II supports the Supply Chain IT team by performing intermediate business systems analysis. This role focuses on gathering and documenting user requirements, supporting technical issue resolution, assisting with solution testing, and contributing to the enhancement of systems that support distribution, logistics, inventory management, and related supply chain functions. This position operates under general supervision and offers opportunities to develop deeper proficiency in Supply Chain systems and processes.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respond to user-reported issues and support requests, escalating as needed while working within defined service levels
- Assist in gathering and clarifying business requirements for small to medium system enhancements or support needs
- Document current and future business processes, system workflows, and integration points using standard templates and tools
- Collaborate with more experienced team members to translate business requirements into functional specifications
- Participate in testing activities by writing and executing test scripts and validating system functionality
- Learn and apply knowledge of Supply Chain areas such as logistics, distribution, purchasing, merchandising, and inventory management
- Support solution delivery efforts by partnering with developers, QA, and other IT team members
- Assist in identifying root causes of recurring issues and contribute to the development of basic solutions
- Monitor and track assigned tasks, provide regular updates to supervisors, and communicate blockers or dependencies
- Maintain clear and organized documentation of issues, requirements, and resolutions
- Identify patterns or exceptions in system usage and communicate observations to senior analysts or supervisors
- Support production systems post-implementation, documenting known issues and solution steps
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for system improvements or support processes
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s degree, technical training, or progress toward a bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field preferred
Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in IT support, business systems analysis, or related areas (experience in Supply Chain or logistics is a plus)
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Developing proficiency in business analysis techniques, including documentation of processes, user needs, and system requirements
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with Visio/Lucidchart and Azure DevOps is a plus
- Ability to follow established procedures and contribute to task completion with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
- Comfortable communicating with peers and supervisors; seeks advice when working on unfamiliar assignments
- Familiarity with service management or ticketing systems such as ServiceNow is helpful
- Eagerness to grow knowledge in supply chain operations and related IT systems
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Requires extended periods of sitting, occasional bending or lifting (up to 25 pounds)
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard
- Occasional visits to warehouse or distribution environments, with exposure to loud noises
- Normal range of vision and hearing required
