BASIC PURPOSE

The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for planning, designing, developing, and launching efficient information and operational systems in support of core business functions. This role requires strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve system issues, ensuring Love’s maximizes the return on its IT investments.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of existing systems; recommend improvements or leverage opportunities.

  • Ensure system compatibility and interoperability across platforms.

  • Assist with deploying new applications and enhancing existing ones.

  • Conduct research on technology solutions to support purchasing decisions.

  • Advise on software specifications and support vendor direction and reviews.

  • Coordinate and perform detailed system testing and end-user reviews.

  • Assist in the planning, design, and development of application systems.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define business requirements and resolve issues.

  • Contribute to the creation of training materials and system documentation.

  • Conduct root-cause analysis and communicate results with vendors.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Information Science, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of experience in implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting software/hardware systems.

  • Preferred: Experience or knowledge in retail systems.


SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to become a subject matter expert in various applications.

  • Troubleshoot application errors using logs (CSV, TSV, XML, etc.).

  • Basic SQL knowledge, including sub-queries.

  • Familiarity with Windows OS, networking fundamentals, and scripting.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication.

  • Effective interpersonal and listening skills.

  • Analytical and creative problem-solving ability.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong customer service focus.

Physical Demands:

  • Occasional evening/weekend work and on-call support.

  • Occasional travel.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting; occasional bending and stooping.

  • Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy items (e.g., computers).

  • Manual dexterity for keyboard and computer use.

  • Normal vision and hearing required.
