Business Development Officer

BASIC PURPOSE: Responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities that drive revenue growth and profitability for Love’s financial services company. Includes starting new businesses and product lines, developing partnerships and lead generation sources, coordinating acquisition efforts and contributing to overall sales goals and activities.        

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and oversee the start-up of new business lines and financial services products. 
  • Coordinate acquisition activities; identify opportunities, due diligence, valuation, negotiating and business transition.
  • Identify and mine internal and external sources and market opportunities to attract new customers and generate sales.
  • Seek, develop and maintain networking relationships and partnerships which generate deal flow and new business growth.  
  • Work jointly with the Factoring Sales Team and Enterprise sales groups (Fuel Sales, Tire Care, etc.) to create and sell value added bundled products/services that attracts new customers and demand in the market.      
  • Serves as member of financial services leadership team assisting in development and execution of growth strategies.   
  • Some travel required.  

 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business/Finance/Marketing discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ year’s experience in sales and/or a business development role required.
    • Knowledge of the trucking industry, factoring, M&A or financial products/services preferred.

 

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Skills:
    • Proven track record for generating sales and driving business growth. 
    • Computer skills to maintain Salesforce CRM database and heavy use of Microsoft Office products.
    • Well organized with attention to detail; specifically, in reviewing contracts and documents.  
    • Ability to analyze transactions and companies to determine value and optimal deal structure.  
    • Strong sales and negotiation skills – motivated, persuasive, persistent
    • Articulate with excellent presentation skills; serve as company face to prospects/customers/partners.
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
