Area IT Specialist Supervisor

Basic Purpose: The position of Area IT Specialist Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and managing a team of remote technicians stationed in various geographical locations throughout the network of Loves Travel locations. The position of Area IT Specialist Supervisor will be responsible for creating schedules, arranging travel, tracking data, establishing KPI’s, and reporting information to senior management. The position of Area IT Specialist Supervisor will work with various departments throughout the organization to determine the IT needs of those departments and how resources can be best be used to efficiently and effectively achieve project results.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day to day operations of a team of remote technicians to include training, development & mentoring
  • Generate & leverage metrics to continually improve operations and better meet the needs of an ever-changing business
  • Establish a schedule whereby regular maintenance is performed at each store each calendar year
  • Mature the task list of maintenance tasks to be performed working with Infrastructure and Business Aligned needs to identify all key items that should be performed
  • Travel to locations to observe, assist, and interact with remote technicians
  • Utilizes incident management system to document and escalate incidents
  • Seek to proactively address issues by recommending solutions to the Manager of Field IT Installations
  • Create schedules to ensure most effective use of resources for routine maintenance and resolution of problems
  • Work with the warehouse to maintain an inventory of appropriate equipment for fast break fix resolution
  • Ensure that Area IT Specialists are maintaining indirect oversight for work done by the project teams and vendors in their assigned Divisions
  • Assist with the store opening score card to make sure that installations are captured accurately
  • Oversee the fleet of vehicles assigned to the team making sure that regular maintenance is performed
  • Efficiently lead the team seeking fiscal discipline while maintaining a high level of operational excellence
  • Coordinate and oversee third party vendor installation
  • Partner with multiple resources including helpdesk, Field Project, Store Installation & Store Management teams to understand IT issues & expedite resolutions including store opening execution
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Education:
    • REQUIRED: Bachelor Degree
    • PREFERRED: Certifications pertaining to desktop/helpdesk support such as A+, MCP, MCDST, CCNA, etc.
  • Experience:
    • REQUIRED: 3 years of experience in desktop support, networking, or network installation
    • REQUIRED: 1 year of supervisory experience with direct reporting responsibility
    • REQUIRED: Previous experience in a 24x7x365 IT Operations environment
    • PREFERRED: 2 years leading and supporting a retail IT environment

 

Skills and Physical Demands:

  • Hard Skills: Technical knowledge of desktop/laptop computers, peripherals, Windows 7, Windows 10, and the Microsoft Office Suite; ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation and OEM guides; capable of utilizing remote desktop support tools to solve problems; basic understanding of LAN and WAN internetworking devices like routers and switches; technical writing ability to develop knowledge base articles.; technical writing ability to develop knowledge base articles and root cause analysis; ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks.
  • Soft Skills: Strong customer service orientation; effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills; strong written and oral communication skills; analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail; self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under littler supervision; experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment; Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to travel
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision
  • Overnight travel required
