BASIC PURPOSE: The Analytics Engineer will support the broader business through a variety of data-focused projects. You will be responsible for developing and automating data solutions that support the decision making, planning, and measurement of key initiatives. As a member of the Advanced Analytics Team, you will support the delivery of structured data and insights that drive business profitability, increase efficiencies, and improve the customer experience. You will report to the Manager of Advanced Analytics and be supported along the way with robust coaching and development to help you grow. To perform this role successfully, you should have a good mix of technology and insights skills and be willing to learn and utilize a wide variety of tools and technologies.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Learn the Love’s business. Develop deep fluency in the composition, roles, and contributions of Love’s products, strategy, and customers, as well as Love’s business performance.
- Work with multiple data platforms to perform ad hoc reporting, database mining, and analysis that provide a better understanding of the customer and business trends.
- Build and maintain scalable data models that make data readily available and easily accessible for business analysts and data scientists.
- Ensure data integrity and quality by implementing data quality checks and validating data sources.
- Work collaboratively with Data Engineers to make new data sets accessible, automate and enhance data products, and resolve data issues
- Assume responsibility for the analytics data architecture within our team, including optimizing the process of transforming both internal and external data to facilitate accurate, timely, and user-friendly analytics
- Be responsible for developing and maintaining documentation for current and future data products within the company’s data catalog
- Collaborate closely with the business stakeholders and technology teams to deeply understand business needs to guide projects
- Enable knowledge transfer to other business users through clear communication and effective training on data tools and best practices.
- Communicate complex data and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Assist in coordinating with various Love’s business units to gather requirements, develop models as appropriate, and provide actionable insights.
- Support any existing and future reporting or analytical needs.
- Other duties assigned as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BA/BS minimum, Masters preferred, in a relevant field, such as business analytics, mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, management information systems, computer science, engineering or other quantitative fields.
- 1-2+ years of experience preferred in retail, sales, marketing, data, IT, or operations with a focus on business intelligence, data analysis, or analytics engineering
- Experience with data manipulation, reporting, and validation
- Proven experience with troubleshooting principles and issue resolution techniques
SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Hard Skills:
- Proficiency querying data from databases using SQL
- Familiarity with data pipeline and ETL tools, including low/no code applications
- Experience in data cleaning and modelling for use in business analytics
- Understanding of data warehouse principles and database structures, especially in cloud-based systems
- Knowledge of Data visualization tools (Tableau preferred)
