BASIC PURPOSE: Primarily responsible for designing, configuring, and supporting PLC Automation Controllers and HMI, SCADA, and Historian Software.

Typically resolves around routine problems that have straightforward solutions. Operates under the supervision of more senior staff as appropriate. Has insight to design and implement automation requirements by either coding and testing an application or installing a purchased package and developing interfaces to other existing systems with guidance as required. Provides ongoing support and enhancements to these systems, as necessary. Works individually or in a team environment and follows formal software development processes.

 

MAJOR  RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the design and configuration of PLC Cotnrols Systems.
  • Responsible for the support and troubleshooting of Control Software on Servers including but not limited to SCADA, Data Server, Historain Serves, Alarm Servers.
  • Solves problems by designing and customizing computer applications that will meet the business requirements by utilizing best practices, corporate standards and available technology.
  • Determine and outline multiple approaches and recommend best option to management.
  • Provide ongoing support and enhancements to computer applications or packages which includes: diagnosing problems, researching possible solutions, determining effects on the entire system, coding, thoroughly testing, documenting, and implementing.
  • Proactively monitor and enhance performance of applications.
  • Independently analyze routine problems by communicating with leaders, employees and customers.
    • Document findings and communicate findings through written documents and models.
    • The analysis tasks include: Understanding and researching functionality and applicable technology of both new applications/packages and new releases of existing   applications/packages.
  • Engage other areas in initial analysis phases to identify infrastructure and support needs. This involves supporting multiple environments for 24/7 operations.
  • Interacts in a constructive manner with co-workers to create a synergy to develop business solutions.
  • This position requires regular involvement with petroleum offloading terminals which are geographically dispersed.
  • This position will require 25% - 60% travel.
  • Manage daily priorities, support efforts, tasks related to projects and phases of small projects utilizing project management tools.
  • Ensure adequate and appropriate response to support calls as required:
    • This includes business hours and after hours calls on a rotating basis or as business needs require
    • Travel to sites as required for installations and issue resolution
  • Work with the team to ensure the customer requests are completed in a timely manner.  

 

EDUCATION  AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • HS Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years demonstrated, commensurate experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience:
    • 1+ years supporting Rockwell Software PLC and Software (preferred)
    • 1 - 3 years’ experience participating in small projects or phases of small projects.
    • 1 - 3 years reading and interpreting electronic schematic drawings.
    • 1 - 3 years’ experience in all application development concepts including analysis, design, programming, and testing.

  • Skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and ability to learn new software applications and computer programs.
    • Build & Sustain Relationships- Uses appropriate interpersonal skills and communication methods to build constructive relationships with customers, business units, service organizations and other stakeholders to meet shared goals and objectives.
    • Contribute to Team Success; Demonstrates cooperation and collaboration while participating in a group or team.
    • Proficient in computer networks and Server
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer.
