Sr. Credit Analyst

BASIC PURPOSE: The Sr. Credit Analyst conducts in depth reviews of public & private firm’s financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or trading with counterparties.  The analyst controls credit allocations for fuel (wholesale/bulk/financial/trading) accounts and monitors collections & exposures of the A/R portfolio. 

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Negotiates credit and risk provisions of contracts, corporate guarantees, netting agreements, and confidentiality agreements with current and prospective counterparties.
  • Works with internal trading / operations departments, and with trade counterparties to negotiate the establishment of internal and external credit lines.
  • Sets credit allocations for counterparties and executes hold/release of orders based on company policy.
  • Processes credit applications and sends approvals to all internal personnel needed for the System Setup process.
  • Conducts annual/quarterly credit reviews on counterparties & assess credit risk on an ongoing basis.
  • Works closely with Trading, Billing, Cash Application, Treasury, Sales Staff, and Accounting.
  • Monitors daily reports and takes appropriate actions as needed.
  • Assists the Credit Manager with monthly reports for internal meetings.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
      • Bachelor’s Degree, MBA preferred
  • Experience:
      • 3-5 years’ experience

 

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Hard Skills:

    • SAP, RightAngle,  BI , Microsoft Office (specifically Word & Excel), Financial Analysis 

 

Soft Skills:

    • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and ability to multitask and shift gears with relative ease in a high paced environment, Great attention to detail. Preference given to candidates with energy experience.

 

Typical Physical Demands:

        • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
        • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
      • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
      • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
