BASIC PURPOSE: As a member of the Operations and Risk team, the Commercial Analyst role is a multi-function position responsible for a variety of analytical activities associated with retail electric vehicle charging, compressed natural gas operations, renewable natural gas operations, and fuel programs compliance. The Commercial Analyst will develop pro formas, interact with utilities, regulatory agencies and grant funding bodies, generate returns analysis, communicate value proposition, and support strategic partnerships related to the Zero Emission business line. This will include analyses of new and existing customer usage and station performance, monthly reports, and contract administration and compliance. Additionally, the Commercial Analyst will support other business lines on an as needed basis, including compressed and renewable natural gas. This person will have a demonstrated ability to simultaneously coordinate a host of complex tasks, to effectively communicate across P&L teams in a matrix organization, with senior management, and to customers. In addition, the Commercial Analyst must be able to liaise with mid office, back office, and compliance personnel. This person must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have strong analytical skills and attention to detail, and possess excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acquire electric vehicle and utility data and analyze for rollout of Love’s EV charging network
- Assist in managing natural gas commodity price risk through commodity procurement
- Assist in creation, distribution, and continuous improvement of monthly volume and station performance reports
- Help develop an electric power pricing database under the guidance of the Zero Emissions team
- Track national market pricing to benchmark cost-competitiveness
- Analyze new markets related to zero emission fuels
- Collect all data necessary to build reliable pro formas and returns analysis
- Create pro formas showing financial projections for projects, identifying all appropriate inputs driving that opportunity
- Create, distribute, and continuously improve monthly performance reports that track production and utility savings relative to pro forma
- Work with the business development team, assisting in the development of new sales channels or products, along with the systems and processes needed to be successful
- Perform analysis of customer and station performance statistics while proactively looking to identify and capture new business opportunities
- Lead efforts in working with in-house legal to create and review contracts and ensure all commercial terms and risks have been captured appropriately
- Perform analysis for other capabilities and business lines
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead efforts to implement them across multiple functional areas
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required
- Experience:
- 2-3 years experience in price risk management
- 2-3 years experience analyzing data and creating reports
- 2-3 years experience managing relationships with internal and/or external customers or accounts
- 1 year experience developing pro formas specifically for Zero Emission installations
- 1-2 years experience conducting project and/or process management/improvement activities
- 1-2 years experience working with contracts
