Logistics Manager (Fuel)

BASIC PURPOSE: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Logistics department by making certain our personnel have tools and knowledge to keep the Love’s Travel Stops adequately supplied with the lowest cost fuel possible.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and manage fuel inventory processes to ensure adequate stock of fuel at best possible prices
  • Build and maintain appropriate 3rd party carrier (trucking) relations
  • Develop analytic models of business operation and drive performance improvement and cost saving initiatives
  • Direct and manage logistics & truck utilization in a way that ensures the best efficiency possible
  • Manage short, mid and long-term department goals
  • Assists with management, staffing, training and continual education of Logistics department employees
  • Interact with support teams to ensure adequate plans are made to meet business objectives
  • Develop an environment that drives performance while maintaining safe environment and ensure timely reporting
  • Create development opportunities for staff through team building, enhanced training and employee recognition programs
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
    • HS Diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management and/or Logistics preferred
  • Experience:
  • 3-5 years Fuel Logistics or Trucking experience required
  • 3-5 years management experience preferred

    An equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted. 

     

    SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Skills:
    • Widespread understanding of our supply chain/dispatch software “TelaPoint” or similar system
    • Comprehensive understanding of national fuel supply chain /economics
    • Capacity to collaborate with various groups inside the Gemini/Musket/Love’s collection of companies
    • Ability to manage 100+ emails per day
    • Capability to manage numerous competing demands in an extremely high-pressure environment
    • First-rate written and verbal communication skills
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
