Summary: Cortes Capital is the Oklahoma City-based private investment office for the Love family. Under the direction of the Fund Controller, you will be involved in the entire process of accounting for our investments from recording journal entries to preparing capital account and financial statements

 

We are unique from many family offices as we focus exclusively on private investing, including private equity,growth equity, and venture capital. Our investment approach is the result of bringing together some of the best practices that we have learned over years in institutional investing. We source broadly, engage in dynamic discussions with general partners and management teams, provide candid feedback, and set realistic expectations. We invest in funds, co-investments, and direct investments, focusing on thematic areas such as software, industrials, life sciences, and more.

 

We seek the most intellectually curious individuals that are excellent problem solvers. An ability to work independently and collaboratively is a must. A strong understanding of the general ledger is critical.

 

Job Functions:

  • Support the day-to-day accounting and financial statements of the Cortes Capital entities
  • Record journal entries related to investment activity, including capital calls, distributions, and quarterly valuation changes
  • Set up, process, and record capital calls and distribution notices
  • Prepare financial statements and assist with footnotes for multiple entities
  • Reconcile various accounts, promptly researching and correcting any variances
  • Corresponding with counterparties to reconcile account differences
  • Provide up to date insights on fund performance relative to benchmarks
  • Assist Investment team with data analysis projects
  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, annual closing cycles
  • Assist with quarterly valuation reviews and preparation of quarterly investor update materials · Assist with gathering and coordinating investment partnership tax documents
  • Assist with accounting software transition
  • Assist with investment pipeline and portfolio management software upgrade development
  • Manage up with the goal of eventually taking over the Fund Controller’s duties

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of at least five years of experience working in an accounting role for a financial services firm, fund administrator, public accounting firm, or financial reporting role

  • Experience with private equity and fund accounting software is helpful

  • Public Accounting experience required, Big 4 experience is a plus, but not require

  • CPA require
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
