Basic Purpose:The primary purpose of the Staff Accountant position is to analyze specific company activities including cash, fuel inventory, fuel margins, account reconciliation, and monthly close.  The Staff Accountant is also responsible for the completion and analysis of work papers and special projects as assigned.

Job Functions:

• Reconcile and upload all cash activities for fuel vendors timely and accurately.
• Clear multiple cash accounts by month-end.
• Be responsible for the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts to ensure accurate payment is made.
• Be adaptable and able to work in multiple systems, including tying those systems together to ensure completeness.
• Make independent decisions and recommendations regarding journal entries, reconciliations, and work paper analysis.
• Assist in the annual audit of Love’s and Musket.
• Use discretion and independent judgment in developing enhancements to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
• Enhance efficiencies through independent analysis of auditing of control procedures.
• Identify and assess potential opportunities for improvement.
• Interact with other departments and operations.
• Other duties assigned as needed

Experience and Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or equivalent required
• Accounting degree required
• 1-3 years of Accounting experience preferred
• 1-3 years of Reconciliation experience preferred

Skills and Physical Demands:

• Hard Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software applications and computer programs; SAP (ECC and S4) knowledge a plus; fuel experience a plus
• Soft Skills: Ability to handle a continuous stream of work; ability to interact with a great diversity of people; must have excellent attention to detail and analytical skills; must be able to meet deadlines, be reliable and meet departmental key performance metrics
• Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
• Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
