Loss Prevention Investigator
Welcome to Love's! Our Loss Prevention team is hiring a Loss Prevention Investigator to ensure the safety and security of company assets by detecting and preventing theft, fraud, and other acts of dishonesty. This role involves conducting investigations, gathering evidence, and working closely with internal teams to minimize losses and maintain a safe and secure environment.
This individual will serve as a custodian of Love’s records and may be subject to litigation processes. The role requires discipline and strong follow‑up skills and includes contact with law enforcement agencies to obtain updated information and move incidents forward in the legal process. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion are essential.
Job Functions:
- Conduct Investigations: Initiate and conduct investigations into suspected cases of theft, fraud, or other fraudulent activities, both proactively and in response to reported incidents. Utilize various techniques, such as surveillance, interviews, and data analysis, to identify and gather evidence.
- Loss Prevention Strategies: Develop and implement loss prevention strategies, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and minimize losses. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as store operations, human resources, and legal, to ensure consistency and adherence to company standards.
- Surveillance and Monitoring: Utilize surveillance equipment and systems to monitor areas of concern, identify suspicious activities, and proactively prevent theft and fraud. Maintain awareness of emerging trends and techniques used by criminals to stay ahead of potential threats.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed reports and documentation of investigations, including findings, evidence, and recommended actions. Present findings to management and assist in developing appropriate response measures, including disciplinary actions, legal proceedings, or process improvements.
- Training and Awareness: Provide training and education to employees on loss prevention techniques, security protocols, and best practices to create a culture of vigilance and minimize vulnerabilities. Promote awareness of loss prevention policies and procedures throughout the organization.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate with stakeholders, such as store managers, security teams, and law enforcement agencies, to share information, coordinate efforts, and support the resolution of incidents. Act as a liaison between the company and external partners in legal proceedings, when necessary.
Experience and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in criminal justice, security management, or related field preferred.
- Certification in loss prevention or related field is a plus.
- 2 years' experience in a Loss Prevention is preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of loss prevention techniques, investigation methodologies, and legal considerations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in using surveillance equipment, alarm systems, and related software.
- Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools. Must have focus and endurance when reviewing large amounts of transactional data.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity and discretion.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to loss prevention.
- Schedule may vary depending on the needs of the department. Love’s is a 24/7 operation, and nights and overnights may be necessary.
