About the Role:
The Lead Terminal Operator supports daily DEF terminal operations—loading, unloading, storing, mixing, and blending products—while guiding terminal operators to ensure safe, efficient, and smooth operations under the direction of the Terminal Manager.

 

Job Functions:

  • Lead daily terminal operations and ensure necessary equipment is available and in proper working order for the team.

  • Serve as a point of contact for terminal operators and assist the Terminal Manager in training, communication, and day-to-day support.

  • Collaborate with the team to identify ways to improve effectiveness; partner with the Terminal Manager to implement improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with operating procedures to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

  • Monitor team compliance with policies and ensure proper use of required safety equipment and gear.

  • Oversee and participate in processes for safe and efficient tank car unloading.

  • Unload truck trailers, store materials in appropriate locations, and track materials in the terminal inventory system.

  • Verify inbound shipments for accuracy, report quality variances, and ensure shipments are free of damage.

  • Operate forklift and blending/mixing machines while directing others in safe operation.

  • Perform and oversee routine inspections on forklift equipment to ensure it is operating well.

  • Use blending/mixing machines to produce quality products and monitor equipment for safe, efficient operation.

  • Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.

  • Ensure cleanliness of blending equipment and terminal facilities. Disassemble equipment with small hand tools and clean as needed.

  • Conduct quality control tests, draw product samples for laboratory testing, and oversee process monitoring to ensure standards are met.

  • Record and maintain accurate data on process conditions, test results, and equipment readings.

  • Maintain records in written or electronic form for cleaning, production batches, and quality control.

  • Assist with audits, reporting, and special projects as assigned.

  • Perform other related duties as needed

 

Education and Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent

  • 2+ years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or agricultural environment required; prior leadership or lead-level experience preferred

  • Previous forklift operation experience require

 

Skills and Physical Demands:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to serve as team leader and motivator.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Highly motivated, self-starter, organized, and a team player.

  • Thorough understanding of terminal procedures and regulations.

  • Willing and able to work a 5-day schedule with possible overtime required while maintaining workplace composure.

  • Perform physical tasks requiring climbing, lifting over 50 lbs, balancing, walking, stooping, and working on stairs, ladders, and elevated areas
