Welcome to Love's: As the Analytics Platform Architect, you will define and evolve the organization's enterprise BI architecture, governance, and delivery standards across Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Business Intelligence, you will own the end-to-end technical strategy for semantic modeling, data visualization at scale, performance and capacity management, DevOps/CI-CD, and secure data access.
Job Functions:
- Architect the enterprise BI platform (Fabric + Power BI) including standards for data ingestion, warehousing/lakehouse, semantic models, and report delivery; ensure designs follow star-schema principles and scale for enterprise workloads
- Establish and lead a Power BI/Fabric Center of Excellence (CoE): define roles, processes, and guardrails for content lifecycle, endorsement/certification, workspace strategy, and community enablement
- Own governance & security patterns: RLS/OLS design guidance, sensitivity labeling, tenant/workspace policies, and change management; balance autonomy with controls to scale safely
- Capacity & performance management: plan and optimize Fabric capacities, Direct Lake adoption, and OneLake usage; implement monitoring and cost/chargeback insights via Capacity Metrics and admin telemetry
- DevOps for BI: implement Git-based workflows with Power BI Projects (.pbip) and TMDL, automated quality checks (Tabular Editor Best Practice Analyzer), and CI builds/deployment pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps)
- Enterprise semantic modeling: champion reusable, certified “golden” datasets; enforce DAX and modeling conventions; drive performance tuning (VertiPaq, cardinality reduction, calculation patterns)
- Introduce and govern use of AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot for Power BI, automated DAX generation, and intelligent model documentation
- Observability & telemetry: implement service-level monitoring, usage analytics, and audit automation using Admin APIs/PowerShell; publish adoption and SLA dashboards for leaders
- Data agent & AI-readiness: prepare semantic models for Copilot and Fabric data agent (Prep for AI schemas, metadata, synonyms) to improve natural-language querying and agentic analytics
- Cross-platform connectivity: oversee connectivity patterns (e.g., SAP HANA, Snowflake, SQL), gateway configuration, and hybrid modes (Direct Lake/DirectQuery/Composite) with documented trade-offs
- Mentorship & standards: coach BI Developers I–III on modeling, DAX, performance, and SDLC; conduct peer reviews, publish playbooks, and facilitate internal training
Experience and Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Certifications preferred: Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600)
- Demonstrated adoption of Fabric Direct Lake for large-scale analytics with performance/cost trade-off guidance; capacity throttling & load strategies
- Experience formalizing a Power BI CoE with training, community of practice, and governance automation
- Familiarity with Best Practice Analyzer rule customization
Skills and Physical Demands:

- DataOps/DevOps: branching, code review, CI validation, automated deployments with .pbip/TMDL; comfortable with Azure DevOps
- Security by design: RLS/OLS, sensitivity labels, and tenant policies integrated into modeling and release processes
