Customer Staff Accountant I

Welcome to Love's! The customer accounting team is hiring a Customer Staff Accountant I. This role involves managing and analyzing customer accounts of moderate complexity through reconciliation, dispute resolution, and process improvement, while developing foundational general ledger skills and enhancing team and departmental efficiency.

 

Job Functions:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of all inquiries and issues.
  • Demonstrate ownership of accounts from issue identification through resolution.
  • Maintain accurate customer account data across multiple systems.
  • Identify and escalate variances and discrepancies to senior team members.
  • Ensure account integrity through timely payment application and dispute resolution.
  • Analyze and resolve billing and payment discrepancies with supervisory support.
  • Learn and adhere to standard reconciliation and accounting procedures.
  • Prepare basic journal entries and assist with general ledger account reconciliations and month-end accruals under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Learn automation tools (e.g., Power Query, Excel macros) and make recommendations for possible process improvements.
  • Back up other team members when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • 0-2 years of related experience.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP) is a plus.

 

Skills:

  • Hard skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Strong reconciliation and variance analysis skills; Ability to analyze data across multiple systems and identify discrepancies; High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Soft skills: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities; Ability to identify issues using sound judgement; With guidance, high level of ownership and accountability for assigned work; Ability to prioritize, manage multiple responsibilities; Effective written and verbal communication skills; Ability to adapt to changing priorities and identify process improvement opportunities.

 

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
  • Occasional lifting to 25 pounds
  • Manual dexterity is sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision
  • Possible evening/weekend work
