Construction Technician (Remote)

BASIC PURPOSE: A hands-on Construction Technician responsible for self-performing construction activities for alternative fuel infrastructure projects across the U.S., with a primary focus on CNG fueling station installations. This role supports superintendents and project managers by executing civil, mechanical, and electrical scopes in the field. The ideal candidate has strong practical trade skills, experience working on fueling or utility projects, and the ability to deliver high-quality work safely and efficiently.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform installation of piping, equipment, electrical, and structural components for CNG fueling stations and related infrastructure.

• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and blueprints to execute work accurately.

• Work under the direction of the Superintendent to complete daily tasks in alignment with project schedule and quality standards.

• Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and effectively.

• Assist in site preparation activities including excavation support, foundation prep, and equipment setting.

• Install and connect mechanical systems (piping, valves, compressors, dispensers) and basic electrical systems under supervision.

• Perform leak testing, system checks, and assist with commissioning activities.

• Always Follow OSHA and company safety standards; maintain a clean, organized, and compliant jobsite.

• Document work performed, note field discrepancies, and provide feedback to site leadership.

• Support subcontractors and vendors as directed by Superintendent or Project Manager.

• Travel frequently to project sites across the U.S., sometimes for extended periods (up to 95%).

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education: HS Diploma or equivalent required; trade school or technical training preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 2–5 years of hands-on construction experience in civil, mechanical, or electrical trades.
    • Fueling station, gas utility, or industrial construction experience strongly preferred.
    • Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • OSHA 10 certification required (OSHA 30 preferred or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.

 

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Skills:
    • Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, and hands-on trade skills.
    • Basic knowledge of construction safety practices, materials, and tools.
    • Good time management and communication skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficiency with basic computer skills (email, digital timesheets, online safety training).

 

  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
    • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work outdoors in varying conditions.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate tools and equipment.
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
