Sr PNL Analyst (Geneva, Switzerland)

BASIC PURPOSE:  Musket Europe SARL, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, specializes in commodity supply, trading and logistics and provides expertise on both a marketing and operational level.  This role will calculate and report an accurate representation of Musket’s market risks and profitability.  The role requires balancing independence with a business enabling partnership.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide accurate exposure, mark to market (MTM), and profitability reporting of all transactions as assigned by portfolio.
  • Provide timely entry of all transactions into Right Angle (RA) and demonstrate a thorough understanding of RA scheduling, profit/loss reporting, transaction rebooking, accounting close, and all subsequent impacts on profitability.
  • Work with contract administration, accounting, inventory control, and third parties to resolve pricing or volume discrepancies.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for both RA and exposure/PNL reporting, across the middle office desk.
  • Provide back up for the responsibilities of other Risk Team members.
  • Assist with the year end audit around transaction documentation and forward mark to market validation.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Mathematics or Engineering, or equivalent experience required.
    • Strong knowledge of energy price risk management methods, trading instruments and the structure and fundamentals of the North American energy markets
    • Strong Excel and VBA skills essential, proficient in other MS Office products
  • Experience:
    • Experience of interacting directly with traders and working in a front office trading environment
    • Direct experience in risk management, ideally within an energy trading company or investment bank
    • Evidenced good critical thinking skills and experience working with large data sets to solve various problems
    • Experience of interacting directly with traders and working in a front office trading environment required.

  • Skills:
    • Hard Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office, expertise in Excel. Ability to practically apply energy and risk management knowledge in a trading environment of diverse and often conflicting priorities.
    • Soft Skills: Good written and oral communication skills, team player, exceptional customer service, attention to detail, self-motivated, good time management skills, and innovative thinking necessary. 
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision
    • Travel may be required
